Learning Outcomes and Application This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to identify presentation requirements and prepare materials or sample board for client presentation for interior decoration and design projects. The materials board includes visual demonstration of colour, materials, samples, finishes and textiles used in the decoration and design project.This unit applies to interior decorators and designers.No licensing or certification requirements exist at the time of publication. Relevant legislation, industry standards and codes of practice within Australia must be applied.
Duration and Setting X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting.

Elements of Competency Performance Criteria              
Element: Identify presentation requirements from project brief
  • Review project brief to determine presentation requirements
  • Confirm parameters for the project with client
  • Select work resources based on project requirements
  • Assess and interpret all required information to inform the presentation process
       
Element: Prepare boards
  • Obtain substrate in the selected colour and cut to the desired size
  • Gather and prepare visual information in accordance with the design theme and project brief
  • Gather products, materials and accessories and prepare selected items
  • Compose and arrange material and sample board components
  • Label fixtures or compile a legend that translates the parts and colours

  • Develop and prepare presentation methodology suited to the audience
  • Make board presentation to the client to sell the attributes of the design solution
  • Support presentation of materials board information with multimedia and computer-based strategies

Assessment Tasks
